A new chapter in Tripura’s healthcare sector is set to begin with the opening of Supra Multispeciality Hospital, a 45-bedded multispeciality healthcare facility at Old Motor Stand in the heart of Agartala. The hospital will be formally inaugurated on Sunday, August 9, at 10 AM, with the Presence of Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha, scheduled to inaugurate the facility.
The new hospital is being positioned as a modern healthcare centre aimed at providing multispeciality and superspeciality medical services under one roof, reducing the need for patients to travel outside the state for a range of advanced treatments.
The inauguration will be followed by a Mega Blood Donation Camp, reflecting the hospital management’s stated commitment to community service. The initiative is intended to underline the importance of voluntary blood donation and encourage people to contribute towards saving lives, particularly during medical emergencies and critical situations.
According to the hospital management, Supra Multispeciality Hospital has been established with the objective of making advanced healthcare more accessible to people in Tripura and the wider Northeast. The facility is designed to provide both OPD and IPD services across multiple medical and surgical disciplines, with an emphasis on modern infrastructure, advanced technology and patient-centred care.
Briefing about the hospital’s facilities, Dr. Rajib Debnath, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, said the hospital has been equipped with modern diagnostic, surgical and critical-care infrastructure. The facility includes X-ray, pathology, endoscopy and pharmacy services, besides advanced surgical support systems.
A major feature of the hospital is its three modular operation theatres, supported by modern anaesthesia equipment. It also has a six-bedded Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a high-frequency C-arm machine and a 4K Stryker laparoscopic system, which are intended to support a range of advanced and complex surgical procedures.
The hospital will focus particularly on complex orthopaedic procedures, joint replacement surgeries, arthroscopic surgeries, advanced laparoscopic procedures, general surgery and gynaecological surgeries, besides multispeciality and superspeciality OPD and IPD services.
The management said the facility has been established with a broader objective of bringing quality healthcare closer to patients and their families. Access to advanced treatment within Agartala, it said, could reduce the financial and logistical burden associated with travelling to distant cities for medical care.
To strengthen access to superspeciality expertise, Supra Multispeciality Hospital has entered into an association with Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru (Main Branch). Through the collaboration, the hospital aims to facilitate access to advanced treatment, specialist consultation, clinical expertise and superspeciality services in different areas of medicine.
Details of the collaboration were shared by Dr. Manish Rai, Zonal Hospital Director, Bangalore, and Ram Gopal Bardhan, Chief Manager, International Healthcare Services. They highlighted the facilities and expertise available at Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru, and explained how the association with Supra Multispeciality Hospital is expected to help extend access to advanced healthcare services for patients in Tripura.
The hospital management believes that such a collaboration could help bridge the gap between patients in the Northeast and specialised medical expertise available in larger healthcare centres. For patients and families, access to quality treatment closer to home could mean reduced travel, lower logistical difficulties and greater convenience during periods of medical crisis.
