Chief Minister felicitates Asmita Dey for Commonwealth Games judo gold

Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Wednesday felicitated judoka Asmita Dey at Tripura Bhawan here for winning what the state government described as India's first gold medal in judo at the Commonwealth Games.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister congratulated Dey on her achievement and praised her determination, discipline and dedication. He said her performance had brought recognition to Tripura and the country.

"Asmita Dey's achievement on the international stage is a landmark moment for Indian sports and a matter of immense pride for Tripura. Her dedication, determination and sporting excellence have made the entire state and the country proud," Saha said.

He said Dey's journey from Tripura to the top of the international podium would inspire young athletes across the country.

"Her journey from Tripura to the top of the international podium will serve as a powerful inspiration to millions of young and aspiring athletes across the country. The State Government remains firmly committed to encouraging our youth, strengthening the sporting ecosystem and nurturing talented athletes so that they can excel at the national and international levels," the Chief Minister said.

Saha also extended his best wishes to Dey for her future competitions and expressed confidence that she would continue to perform well in international events.

He assured the athlete that the state government would continue to provide the necessary support and encouragement to help her pursue further success on the world stage.

According to the Chief Minister's Office, the meeting was held at Tripura Bhawan in New Delhi, where Saha felicitated the judoka in recognition of her performance at the Commonwealth Games.
