Tripura launches AI-powered system to monitor schools, student learning

The Tripura School Education Department has introduced an artificial intelligence-enabled online system for school inspection and continuous student assessment to strengthen monitoring, improve accountability and support evidence-based academic planning across government schools.
Developed under the guidance of School Education Secretary Dr Milind Ramteke and implemented by Director of Elementary Education, Director of Secondary Education and State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha Dr Samit Roy Chowdhury, the initiative is aimed at improving learning outcomes, particularly at the foundational stage of school education.
The platform has been integrated with the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK), enabling officials at the state, district and block levels to track school inspections and student performance through a real-time digital dashboard. The system is designed to help administrators identify learning gaps, evaluate institutional performance and undertake timely academic interventions.
To facilitate implementation, the department has scheduled an online training programme for District Education Officers, District MIS Coordinators and NIPUN Coordinators. District Magistrates of all eight districts will also receive access to the dashboard to enable administrative intervention whenever required.
The NIPUN Cell of the Directorate of Elementary Education had earlier conducted hands-on training for Block Resource Persons, Cluster Resource Persons and Inspectors of Schools, who are now overseeing implementation at the field level.
According to departmental sources, the digital platform will monitor the quality and frequency of school inspections while generating continuous assessment data to identify students requiring additional academic support. The department may also recommend need-based professional development through SCERT for teachers where learning outcomes remain below expected levels over successive assessment cycles.
Officials said the technology-driven system is expected to strengthen classroom practices, improve institutional accountability and support timely, data-based decision-making. The initiative reflects the state's focus on using digital governance tools to improve the quality of school education and enhance learning opportunities for children across Tripura.
