The 23-year-old athlete from a small village in South Tripura was accorded a grand welcome, with supporters, sports enthusiasts, officials, and admirers greeting her with cheers, garlands, flowers, and thunderous applause.

Asmita scripted history by becoming India's first-ever Commonwealth Games gold medalist in the women's 48 kg judo category, a landmark achievement that has brought immense pride to both Tripura and the nation.

In recognition of her remarkable accomplishment, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya felicitated Asmita and other Commonwealth Games champions at a special ceremony organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. During the event, Asmita was presented with a Rs. 30 lakh cash award, honouring her historic gold-medal performance and acknowledging her contribution to Indian sports.
