Former Tripura Governor and Eminent Educationist Dr. DY Patil Passes Away, Tripura Mourns the Loss of a Visionary Leader

Former Governor of Tripura, renowned educationist, philanthropist, and Padma Shri awardee Dr. DY Patil passed away at his residence in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, on Tuesday morning. He was 90 years old, marking the end of a remarkable life dedicated to education, public service, and nation-building.
Dr. Patil served as the Governor of Tripura from 2009 to 2013, discharging his constitutional responsibilities with dignity, integrity, and dedication. During his distinguished public career, he also served as the Governor of Bihar and West Bengal, earning widespread respect for his administrative acumen and commitment to public welfare.
A towering figure in the field of education, Dr. Patil founded the DY Patil Education Group, which has grown into one of India's leading educational institutions, making significant contributions to higher education, healthcare, and research. In recognition of his outstanding service to society and education, he was conferred the Padma Shri in 1991.

In his condolence message, the Chief Minister described Dr. DY Patil as an eminent educationist, visionary institution builder, philanthropist, and respected public figure whose immense contributions to education, healthcare, and public service have left an enduring legacy.
