Former MP Rebati Tripura Clarifies Political Future, Says He Remains with BJP While Returning to Teaching

Former Member of Parliament Rebati Tripura has dismissed speculation about his political retirement, asserting that he remains an active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) despite resuming his teaching profession.

For the past several days, various media reports had suggested that the former MP had stepped away from politics and rejoined his previous post as a teacher at Gandhi School in Agartala. Rebati Tripura had remained silent on the reports initially, leading to further speculation about his political future.

However, addressing a press conference on Monday, he categorically denied that he had quit politics.

"I have not left politics. I was with the BJP, and I will continue to remain with the BJP in the days ahead," Rebati Tripura said.

Explaining his decision to return to the classroom, the former MP said that he had been on leave from his teaching profession for the past seven years while discharging his political responsibilities. He noted that with comparatively less organisational work at present and a shortage of teachers in the school, he decided to resume his teaching duties.

"Teaching is my profession, and it is my responsibility to impart knowledge to students," he said, adding that serving in the education sector is a commitment he has always valued.

Rebati Tripura's clarification comes amid widespread discussion over his return to Gandhi School, with many interpreting the move as a withdrawal from active politics. His statement, however, makes it clear that his return to teaching should not be viewed as an exit from public life or the BJP.

The former MP emphasized that he intends to continue contributing both as an educator and as a member of the BJP, balancing his professional responsibilities with his political commitment.
