Former MP Rebati Tripura Rejoins Teaching Profession, BJP Says He Continues to Hold Party Responsibilities

Former Tripura East Lok Sabha MP Rebati Tripura has rejoined his previous profession as a school teacher, triggering widespread political discussion across the state. The development has fuelled speculation over whether the former parliamentarian has distanced himself from active politics or the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Rebati Tripura was previously an assistant teacher before being elected to the Lok Sabha in 2019.

Despite the growing debate, Rebati Tripura himself has not publicly explained the reasons behind his decision to return to teaching. He has so far refrained from making any statement to the media on whether the move is personal, professional, or political.

Responding to questions from journalists after reports appeared in Tripurainfo.com and several other media outlets, BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee asserted that Rebati Tripura continues to be associated with the BJP and still holds important organisational responsibilities within the party. However, Bhattacharjee did not specify the exact post or designation currently held by the former MP.

The issue remained a major topic of political discussion throughout the day, with many questioning whether the former MP's return to government service signals a reduced role in electoral politics. However, no official announcement has been made by either Rebati Tripura or the BJP indicating that he has resigned from the party.

During the media interaction, BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee also declined to comment on reports that Rebati Tripura's former Personal Secretary, Gourab Gupta, had allegedly left the BJP and resumed his earlier profession as a medical representative.

Meanwhile, a section of people close to the former MP has claimed that Rebati Tripura's decision to rejoin the teaching profession is linked to securing full pensionary benefits available under government service too. However, this claim has not been confirmed, as Rebati Tripura has not commented on the matter.

With no official clarification from the former MP himself, the reasons behind his return to teaching remain a matter of speculation, even as political circles continue to debate the implications of the move.
