Senior Tipra Motha Party MLA Ranjit Debbarma has strongly condemned the alleged assault on a woman doctor inside the women's hostel of GBP Hospital in Agartala, describing the reported incident as deeply disturbing and a serious threat to the safety and security of healthcare professionals.

Reacting to media reports on the incident, Debbarma demanded a high-level, impartial inquiry to uncover the circumstances leading to the alleged attack. He urged the state government and law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, identify every person involved, and ensure that the guilty are arrested without delay.

The MLA said that if the allegations are found to be true, the perpetrators should face strict legal action and appropriate punishment under the law. He stressed that no one should be allowed to escape accountability in a case involving violence against a medical professional.

Debbarma further observed that incidents of this nature create fear among doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers who dedicate themselves to serving patients. He emphasized that hospitals and medical hostels must remain safe and secure environments, particularly for women professionals working long and demanding hours.

Calling the reported incident a matter of grave public concern, the Tipra Motha legislator urged the government to review existing security arrangements at government hospitals and hostels across Tripura. He said that if any lapses are found, immediate corrective measures should be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The MLA reiterated that public confidence in the healthcare system depends not only on medical services but also on the safety and dignity of healthcare workers. He appealed to the authorities to act swiftly and transparently so that justice is delivered and such incidents do not recur.
