Two miscreant autorickshaw drivers arrested by police

Following a strong view taken by the minister for transport Sushanta Chowdhury of the acts of misdemeanor , the officer in charge of airport police station Sushanta Deb today arrested two miscreant autorickshaw drivers for their misbehavior with two women air passengers and an Uber auto driver. The nabbed duo are Dipankar Debnath , a resident of Madhya Bhubanban and Jhuton Acharjee of Natun Nagar area . They were arrested this morning by the officer in charge of the airport police station and would be produced in court . The arrest was made on the basis of a specific complaint filed by an Uber autorickshaw driver Sri Ram Debnnath and after the transport minister Sushanta Chowdhury had taken a strong view of the matter. Sushanta also spoke to the woman air passenger who had been ill-treated by the miscreant autorickshaw drivers and assured her that no such thing will happen in future.

Sources said that on July 24 two sisters had returned to Agartala from Calcutta with their old mother suffering from cancer . They had booked an Uber autorickshaw by online payment from Calcutta itself and the Uber auto had parked outside the gate of the airport’s frontal area . But when the two sisters tried to check into the waiting Uber auto-rickshaw the nabbed autorickshaw drivers Dipankar Debnath and Jhuton Acharjee arrived on the spot , slapped the Uber auto driver and went away with the key of the autorickshaw . The two sisters protested this and finally , despite being abused and ill-treated , managed to snatch the key of the Uber autorickshaw after a scuffle and then returned home with their critically ill mother who had also been abused and ill-treated by Dipankar Debnath and Jhuton Acharjee.

The matter came to light and triggered a furore and the driver of the Uber autorickshaw Sriram Debnath filed a complaint with the police in airport station on July 27. Accordingly the police today arrested the two miscreant autorickshaw drivers Dipankar Debnath and Jhuton Acharjee.
