Drug seized by police in Udaipur, three peddlers arrested

In a successful operation yesterday in the evening a police team in Udaipur town, headquarter of Gomati district, seized a big quantity of costly Brown Sugar drug kept in as many as 70 small containers . Besides seizing the autorickshaw that had been carrying the drug the police also nabbed three persons from the drug-carrying vehicle. According to primary estimates by the police , at least 700 grams of Brown Sugar was seized in the operation.

Sources from Udaipur said that acting on a tip-off a police party had been lying in wait for an autorickshaw (No-TR03C 3018) had been heading for Udaipur from Melaghar . As soon as the autorickshaw reached the Vivek Sangha area in Udaipur the police party stopped it and arrested three drug peddlers identified as Bishal Das (Chhanban), Rabi Chowdhury (Sonamura Chaumuhuni) and Arghya Das (Agriculture Chaumuhuni). Altogether 70 small containers with at least 700 grams of highly intoxicating Brown Sugar in them were seized from the autorickshaw which was taken to Radhakishorepur police station .

Speaking to media persons Debanjali Roy, the SDPO Udaipur said that the total quantity of the Brown Sugar had been seized and it was being quantified . She also stated that cases under the NDPS act had been registered against all three nabbed persons involved in the peddling operation. Debanjali added that among the three nabbed persons, Bishal Das was a listed peddler and has pending cases against him. Having completed the total investigation charge-sheet will be filed in court, Debanjali added.
