Agartala Smart City Announces Major Road Upgradation Works on HGB Road, Traffic Restrictions Likely Till July 29

The Agartala Smart City Limited (ASCL) has issued a public notice informing residents about the commencement of an important road upgradation project under the "Smart Road Package-01" initiative. The project aims to improve key stretches of HGB Road as part of the city's ongoing infrastructure modernization programme.

According to the notice, the road construction will involve the laying of Dense Bituminous Macadam (DBM), a crucial stage in asphalt road development that enhances the strength, durability and riding quality of the road.

Road Stretches and Work Schedule

The project will be carried out in two phases:

HGB Road: From Paradise Chowmuhani to Post Office Chowmuhani

Work Period: July 24, 2026 to July 26, 2026

HGB Road: From Hakars Corner to Surala Chowmuhani

Work Period: July 26, 2026 to July 29, 2026.

ASCL has stated that partial traffic restrictions and diversions may be imposed on the affected road stretches during the construction period to facilitate the work safely and efficiently.

The agency has appealed to commuters, residents and visitors to follow traffic advisories, cooperate with the authorities, and use alternative routes wherever necessary to avoid inconvenience.
