Bangladeshi perfidy, Jammu and Kashmir shown as part of Pakistan in seminar, young Indian diplomat protests strongly

The anti-India perfidies by authority in post-Hasina Bangladesh continues unabated even though the elected BNP government is in power now in place of the disastrous and illegitimate interim government headed by Md Yunus. Yunus is no longer there but the legacy left by him remains alive and kicking.

This came to the fore in a seminar recently organized by the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic studies in Dhaka. The seminar was attended by academicians, intellectuals, diplomatic personnel and foreign policy experts. While addressing the seminar with power point presentation the former Bangladeshi high commissioner to Delhi, Ahmed Tariq Karim marked the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan in a mischievously manufactured map.

As soon as this came to the screen the second secretary in Indian high commission in Dhaka, Puja Jha (27) stood up and strongly registered her protest describing the map as wrong and the picture of Jammu and Kashmir in it as part of Pakistan as a diplomatic mischief and attempt to violate India’s sovereignty. Taken aback by Puja Jha’s strong protest, the former Bangladeshi high commissioner to India Ahmed Tariq Karim tried feebly to justify this, stating that it was ‘symbolic’. However the spirited Indian diplomat Puja Jha asserted that the whole state of Jammu and Kashmir has always been an inalienable part of India since partition and that is the reality. Ahmed Tariq Karim who had sought to know protester Puja Jha’s identity kept quiet after being told that she is the second secretary in Indian high commission in Dhaka.

Interestingly the Bangladeshi minister of state for external affairs Shama Obaid who was the chief guest in the seminar remained quiet all along as the exchanges continued. Sources said that Puja Jha’s intervention was appreciated by fellow diplomats. She had secured 82nd position in the civil service exam in India in the year 2021 and joined the Foreign Service.
