Amid growing political debate over the death of Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar, IPS ( 1994 batch), BJP Tripura President Abhishek Debroy has said that every aspect of the case, including reports regarding a purported suicide note, will be thoroughly investigated.

Speaking to reporters, Debroy was asked about speculation surrounding the existence of a suicide note following the senior IPS officer's death. Responding to the issue, he said all aspects related to the case would be examined as part of the investigation and that the truth would emerge through the official probe.

"The investigation will cover everything, including reports of a suicide note. In Tripura, all crimes and irregularities are investigated. The circumstances surrounding the death of DGP Anurag Dhankar will also be investigated," Debroy said.

His remarks come amid increasing demands from opposition parties for an independent probe into the incident under the supervision of judges led by the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court. The opposition has argued that such an investigation is necessary to ensure transparency and maintain public confidence.

Reacting to the opposition's demand, Debroy said an investigation into the unnatural death would take place regardless of whether such a demand was raised."Even if the opposition had not sought it, an investigation into this unnatural death would have been conducted," he said.

The death of DGP Anurag Dhankar has sent shockwaves across Tripura, prompting widespread calls for a transparent, impartial and time-bound investigation. Political leaders across party lines, members of the police fraternity and the public have expressed grief over the sudden demise of the state's top police officer.

The investigating authorities have already initiated a probe to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials are expected to examine all available evidence, including forensic findings and other material collected during the investigation, before arriving at any conclusion.

As of now, the investigating authorities have not officially confirmed either the cause of death or the existence of any suicide note. The investigation is continuing.
