Chief Minister Visits Tripura DGP Office After Reported his Suicide Incident, Official Statement Awaited

A high-level emergency situation unfolded at the office of the Director General of Police (DGP), Tripura, on Monday morning, prompting Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha to personally visit the premises.

The Chief Minister arrived at the DGP office shortly after the news of his Suicide incident was reported. However, he did not interact with journalists waiting outside, and no official statement was issued immediately following his visit.

Several senior police officers and government officials were seen at the DGP office as authorities responded to the situation. Police have not yet released an official statement regarding the nature of the incident.

Notably, Tripura DGP Anurag Dhankar is a 1994-batch IPS officer of the Tripura cadre who assumed charge as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Tripura in May 2025.

Before becoming the state's police chief, he served as DGP (Intelligence), Tripura. During his distinguished career spanning more than three decades, he has held several key positions in the state police and has also served on central deputation with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Border Security Force (BSF). He was also part of the United Nations Mission in Kosovo, gaining significant international policing experience.
