Tripura Police working with professionalism, sincerity: DGP

Tripura Director General of Police Anurag on Saturday said the state's police personnel have been performing their duties with professionalism and sincerity while acting in accordance with the law.

Responding to queries from reporters on the recent controversy over Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury referring to the South Tripura Superintendent of Police as an "idiot", the DGP refrained from commenting directly on the issue.

"I just want to say that the police officials of Tripura are discharging their duties with professionalism and sincerity," he said.

On the law and order situation, Anurag said the situation in the state remained under control and the police were taking preventive measures whenever there was any apprehension of disturbance.

"Wherever we receive any apprehension of law and order issues, we take prompt preventive action. Sufficient police personnel have been deployed in sensitive areas for area domination exercises," he said.

The DGP also said the Tripura Police was maintaining close coordination with the Border Security Force to strengthen surveillance along the international border.

He said joint patrolling and other coordinated measures were being carried out regularly to ensure border security.
