In compliance with instructions of the administrative authority awareness programmes are being held in different subdivisional and district towns. One such programme was held today in the Michael Madhusudan Datta (MMD) college, in the state’s southernmost town of Sabroom.

The programme on census-2027 and self-enumeration was held in the MMD college with the joint initiative of college authority as well as the Satchand rural development block. The event was attended by Swapnaneel Ray, Panchayat Executive Officer (Field Trainer), Sujit Debnath, Census Clerk, Gayetri Sarkar, the Technical assistant from Sanchad RD Block, Professors and Students of the college. The programme was chaired by Dr. Anupam Guha, Principal of MMD College.

Census 2027 is the 16th population census to be conducted in India, and the 8th Demographic Census since independence. It is notable for being the first census in the country to be carried out entirely through a digital process. Data collection will be done directly via mobile apps and online portals, eliminating the use of paper. The digital self-enumeration for Census and Demographic Survey 2027 has begun today (17th July) and will continue until 31st July. Those interested in participating in the self-enumeration can visit the online census portal and fill out their family information forms themselves.

The main objectives are to accurately record household listings and housing demographic data. During today’s discussion, this information was dissemunated and explained thoroughly through a Power Point presentation to the students. For the overall development of the country and the state, everyone was encouraged to provide correct information and participate actively in this initiative.
