In a significant step towards strengthening community participation in addressing social issues, the North Tripura District Administration has launched 'YODDHA', a dedicated digital citizen engagement platform aimed at combating drug abuse, child marriage, domestic violence, child labour and other social evils.
The portal was formally launched by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha during the Mukhyamantri Samipeshu programme held at Kanchanpur on Tuesday.
Developed under the leadership of North Tripura District Magistrate Chandni Chandran, IAS, YODDHA has been conceived as a people-centric initiative that empowers every citizen to become a "warrior" for positive social change while ensuring complete confidentiality and data security.
One of the platform's key features is its anonymous reporting mechanism, allowing citizens to report incidents of child marriage, drug abuse, domestic violence, child labour, exploitation of women and children, and other social concerns without revealing their identity. This is expected to encourage greater public participation by protecting whistleblowers from fear of retaliation.
The platform also offers support to individuals battling substance abuse. Those seeking help can confidentially connect with professional counselling and de-addiction treatment services, ensuring privacy while facilitating timely intervention.
Beyond reporting social issues, YODDHA serves as a hub for volunteerism and community service. Citizens interested in activities such as blood donation and other social welfare initiatives can register through the portal, while information on upcoming camps and community events will be available on the website.
To ensure robust cybersecurity and data protection, the Information Technology Department has completed a comprehensive security audit, while the National Informatics Centre (NIC) is hosting the portal to safeguard users' information and maintain secure digital operations.
Describing the initiative, District Magistrate Chandni Chandran, IAS, said YODDHA is more than just a website—it is a movement led by the North Tripura District Administration to tackle drug addiction, prevent child marriage and protect vulnerable sections of society.
She said the initiative is founded on the belief that every citizen of North Tripura can become a "Yoddha" (warrior) for positive change. Through collective action, awareness, advocacy and anonymous reporting, the administration aims to build a safer, healthier and more socially responsible North Tripura, where communities actively work together against addiction, exploitation and social injustice.
Officials believe the platform will strengthen collaboration between citizens and the administration, enabling faster response to social issues while fostering a culture of responsibility, compassion and civic participation across the district.
