In a major success against narcotics trafficking, the Crime Branch of Tripura Police intercepted a luxury vehicle and seized 10,000 Yaba tablets during a special operation at Ranirbazar on Saturday. Two persons, including a government employee, were arrested in connection with the case.

The operation was carried out in front of the Ranirbazar Fire Station following specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of a large consignment of narcotic substances from outside the state.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Prashanta Pal (32), son of Pradip Pal, a resident of Durganagar under Ranirbazar Police Station, and Dilip Tripura (47), a resident of Dhumachhara. According to sources, Prashanta Pal is an employee of the Animal Resources Development Department of the Tripura Government.

Acting on confidential information, the Crime Branch team intercepted the luxury vehicle and conducted a thorough search, leading to the recovery of the contraband. Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused were transporting the Yaba tablets into Tripura from another state for illegal distribution.

The successful operation was led by Crime Branch Sub-Inspector Rajib Chowdhury, whose team executed the raid with precision, preventing a large quantity of narcotics from entering the local market.

Police have launched a detailed investigation to identify the source of the consignment, the intended recipients, and whether the accused are linked to a larger interstate drug trafficking network. Further arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.

The seizure marks another significant achievement for the Crime Branch in its ongoing drive against drug trafficking and organized narcotics networks operating in Tripura.
