A fortnight-long Balidan Diwas campaign commemorating the sacrifice of Dr. Mukherjee concluded successfully on Thursday across the 18-Surjyamaninagar Assembly Constituency, with BJP MLA Ram Prasad Paul expressing gratitude to party workers, local residents, and public representatives for their overwhelming participation despite adverse weather conditions.

The campaign, held from June 23 to July 10, featured daily Prabhat Pheris (morning processions), public outreach programmes, quizzes on the life and philosophy of Dr. Mukherjee, awareness drives highlighting various government welfare schemes, and interactions with local residents to understand and address their grievances.

Addressing the concluding programme, Ram Prasad Paul said the initiative has been organised continuously in the Surjyamaninagar constituency for the past 36 years, ever since he became associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party. He thanked party workers, Panchayat representatives, Mandal and Shakti Kendra leaders, booth committee members, supporters, and residents of the constituency for their dedication and wholehearted participation throughout the 18-day campaign.

Paul said the enthusiastic response from the public made the programme memorable and reaffirmed the commitment to work for society and the nation by upholding the ideals of patriotism, sacrifice, and national unity championed by Dr. Syama Prasad

Mukherjee.

Highlighting the educational component of the campaign, the MLA stated that BJP leaders and workers organised quiz competitions on the life and ideology of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee in nearly every booth of the constituency. According to him, around 25,000 people's participated in the quizzes conducted over the fortnight.

Speaking about development initiatives in the constituency, Paul said that 5,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) have been dedicated to beneficiaries across the 11 Panchayats of his constituency as part of the celebrations marking Dr. Mukherjee's 125th birth anniversary. He further claimed that since becoming an MLA, nearly 9,000 houses have been provided to economically weaker families in the constituency. He contrasted this with the pre-2018 period, claiming that only around 200 houses had been allotted in Surjyamaninagar before then.

The concluding day of the campaign witnessed heavy rainfall across parts of Tripura, but organisers said the weather failed to dampen the enthusiasm of participants. Hundreds of BJP workers, Panchayat representatives, Mandal and Shakti Kendra leaders, booth committee members, and local residents joined the final Prabhat Pheri and public outreach programme in the Anandanagar Gram Panchayat area, marching despite the downpour yesterday morning.

Paul remarked that the adverse weather only strengthened the participants' determination and reflected their commitment to organisational discipline, patriotism, and the ideals of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee. He said the campaign had successfully taken the message of national unity, selfless service, and dedication to the country to the grassroots level.

The MLA concluded by thanking everyone who contributed to the successful completion of the fortnight-long programme and reiterated his commitment to continue serving the people while promoting the ideals of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee the years ahead.
