Tripura Signs Historic Google and Salesforce MoUs as IT Investments Cross Rs.10,000 Crore at Destination Business Conclave 2026

The Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 concluded on a high note with the Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, signing 43 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and securing 11 Expressions of Interest (EOIs) across the Information Technology and allied sectors, attracting proposed investments worth over Rs.10,000 crore. The landmark event has positioned Tripura as one of India's emerging destinations for technology-driven, sustainable, and innovation-led investments.

Held on July 9 and 10 at the International Fair Ground in Hapania, Agartala, the two-day conclave witnessed participation from more than 1,000 investors, entrepreneurs, technology companies, policymakers, and industry leaders from across the country, double the number initially expected by the state government.

One of the biggest highlights of the conclave was the signing of historic MoUs with global technology giants Google India and Salesforce. Google partnered with the state to support digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure, and technology ecosystem development, while Salesforce signed an agreement to collaborate on AI-powered citizen services, customer relationship management (CRM) solutions, and digital governance platforms. Preliminary discussions were also initiated with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for future collaboration. Besides these, agreements were signed with leading companies including Da'Spatio Rhobotiue Laboratory Pvt. Ltd. (DSRL), Bodhi Tree Multimedia Limited, Elvania Energies 369 Pvt. Ltd., and Indigi Consulting and Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

The conclave was inaugurated by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha in the presence of Information Technology, Finance and Planning Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, other cabinet ministers, and senior government officials. Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region and Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal addressed the gathering virtually.

In his inaugural address, Chief Minister Manik Saha said Tripura has emerged as one of the country's fastest-growing states, with its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) doubling over the past six years. He highlighted the state's improved road, rail, banking, and digital infrastructure, stating that the overwhelming participation of more than 1,000 delegates reflected growing investor confidence in Tripura's economic potential.

Addressing the conclave virtually, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia described Tripura as one of Northeast India's most promising investment destinations, emphasizing Agartala's strategic importance as a gateway to Southeast Asia. He said the state's educated workforce, abundant natural resources, investor-friendly policies, and expanding infrastructure make it an attractive destination for manufacturing, technology, logistics, exports, and food processing industries.

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal noted that under India's Act East Policy, Tripura is steadily emerging as a vital trade gateway to Bangladesh and Southeast Asia. He said industries investing in Tripura benefit from its strategic location, strong connectivity, and robust digital infrastructure.

Minister Pranajit Singha Roy assured investors of the state government's full support in establishing and expanding technology-based businesses in Tripura, highlighting investor-friendly policies and simplified approval mechanisms.

During the conclave, Jeya Ragul Geshan B, Director of Information Technology, showcased Tripura's rapidly expanding IT ecosystem and highlighted the success of the state's policy initiatives. He informed investors that Airtel has already committed Rs.200 crore to establish a data centre in Agartala. He further stated that Tripura's startup ecosystem has grown significantly, with 134 registered startups, 59 recognised companies, and over Rs.2.7 crore disbursed as fiscal assistance.

Industries and Commerce Secretary Kiran Gitte emphasized the state's focus on business reforms, single-window clearances, and improved infrastructure, inviting investors to partner in building a "Viksit Tripura."

On the second day, Chief Secretary JK Sinha described the conclave as a milestone reflecting Tripura's progressive economic policies, business-friendly governance, and successful implementation of regulatory reforms. He said the event demonstrated the state's readiness to become a major destination for technology investments.

A major attraction throughout the conclave was the Directorate of Information Technology's dedicated IT Pavilion, which attracted large numbers of investors, startup founders, students, industry professionals, and government officials. The pavilion showcased Tripura's IT/ITES Policy, Startup Policy, and Data Centre Policy, offering insights into fiscal incentives, infrastructure support, and entrepreneurship opportunities available in the state.

Visitors also received previews of upcoming initiatives, including the proposed Artificial Intelligence Policy, AVGC-XR Policy, and Global Capability Centre (GCC) Policy. Investment opportunities were presented in sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Centres, Cybersecurity, Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM), Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), IT/ITES services, and emerging digital technologies.

The pavilion also highlighted the state's growing innovation ecosystem through demonstrations by startups incubated at NIT Agartala, including robotics developed under the Cubo-Bots initiative, along with innovations in healthcare technology and computational design.

Officials showcased the government's flagship incubation centre T-NEST (Tripura: Nurturing Entrepreneurship & Startups) at Hapania, offering a modern 36,162-square-foot plug-and-play incubation facility. They also outlined plans for the proposed IT Park in Agartala and the Tripura IT & Data Ecosystem Zone (TIDEZ), envisioned as a dedicated hub for data centres and IT-enabled services supported by reliable power supply and high-speed fibre connectivity.

The conclave was attended by several eminent dignitaries, including Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran, Special Secretary to the Cabinet Secretariat Keshav Kumar Pathak, senior bureaucrats, policymakers, and industry leaders.

With over Rs.10,000 crore worth of technology investments, strategic partnerships with global technology leaders such as Google and Salesforce, and strong investor participation, the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 marks a defining milestone in Tripura's journey towards becoming a technology-driven economy
