Concerned citizens and area lovers of Jampuijala have appealed to the Tripura Government to address what they describe as long-standing infrastructure gaps by establishing a Government Degree College, a Fire Station, a Petrol Pump, and a CNG Filling Station in the region.

Leading the initiative, Dr. Sunil Kalai, a resident of Jampuijala, who is also a faculty member of Tripura University submitted a formal representation to the District Magistrate and Collector of Sepahijala District on Friday, urging the administration to take immediate steps for the establishment of these essential public facilities. The memorandum was officially received by the Office of the District Magistrate & Collector on July 10.

In his representation, Dr. Kalai stated that Jampuijala is one of Tripura's largest and most densely populated Scheduled Tribe-dominated areas. Despite its growing population and strategic importance, he said, the region continues to lack several basic public institutions and services that are vital for the welfare and development of local residents.

The memorandum pointed out that the absence of a Government Degree College forces students, particularly those from economically weaker tribal families, to travel considerable distances to pursue higher education. This, according to the representation, places an additional financial burden on families and discourages many students from continuing their studies.

Dr. Kalai also highlighted that Jampuijala does not have a Fire Station, resulting in delays in responding to fire accidents and other emergencies. The absence of such a facility, he noted, poses a serious challenge to public safety, particularly during natural disasters and emergency situations.

The representation further stated that residents, farmers, transport operators, and emergency service providers are compelled to travel long distances for fuel due to the lack of both a Petrol Pump and a CNG Filling Station in the area. The situation, it said, causes inconvenience, increases transportation costs, and affects day-to-day economic activities.

Describing Jampuijala as an important administrative, educational and commercial centre connecting numerous surrounding villages, Dr. Kalai argued that establishing these facilities would significantly contribute to inclusive regional development. He said the proposed institutions would improve access to higher education, strengthen emergency response services, create employment opportunities, enhance public safety, and support economic growth in the region.

The memorandum urged the Government to consider the demand in the larger public interest and take necessary steps to establish a Government Degree College, a Fire Station, a Petrol Pump and a CNG Filling Station at Jampuijala.

Expressing optimism, Dr. Kalai said he hopes the Government of Tripura will give due consideration to the genuine public demand and initiate appropriate action to ensure the balanced and sustainable development of Jampuijala and its adjoining areas.
