Crowd funding (collective public donation) for prohibitively costly treatment of twenty two month old Manasri Chowdhury is gaining in momentum with many individuals , instutions including business housese and students from across the state extending their helping hand . Already the chief minister Dr Manik Saha has promised to sanction a fund for the treatment of the rare disease afflicting Manasri and all the MLAs of BJP, CPI (M) and Congress have come forward to have the little baby girl treated and cured . Senior CPI (M) leaders including CPI (M) state secretary Jiten Chowdhury and Congress leaders have also offered to help. Sources close to Manasri’s father Dhruba Chowdhury said that the Sister Spices company authority have given a cheque of Rs 2 lakh to Manasri’s father while a content creator from Calcutta Dipankar Roy has also given a cheque. Besides, a man from Tripura currently working in Dubai has also sent a cheque of Rs 5 lakhs for treatment of Manasri.

Manasri has been congenitally suffering from an extremely rare disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) which is a genetical disorder and whose treatment is extremely costly. According to sources aware of the matter, at least Rs 18 crore will be required to have Manasri treated with foreign medicine at the AIIMS hospital, Delhi. But the most fortunate thing for little Manasri and her hapless father Dhruba Chowdhury ,a poor paid employee of a private company, is that the former chief minister and incumbent MP from West Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb has taken a keen interest in the matter . Sources said that Biplab yesterday spoke to Manasri’s father Dhruba Chowdhury and promised to help in her treatment as much as he can . Sources close to Manasri’s family said that Biplab has already taken up the matter with the union minister for health and family welfare J.P.Nadda and will also approach the prime minister Narendra Modi for financial assistance from the latter’s discretionary fund. Besides , Biplab has already discussed the issue of Manasri’s treatment with the AIIMS authority for admission to the premier hospital as also for urgently importing the expensive medicine for Manasri’s treatment. Yesterday Biplab also spoke to Manasri’s father by a video call . The hapless family of Manasri including her parents have already expressed deep gratitude to all including the CM , leader of the opposition, ministers and MLAs and former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb for the assistance already extended.
