Morning march in Kathaltali on the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mookherjee

As part of the five day celebration of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mookherjee (1901-1953), the Surjyamoni Nagar constituency ‘Mandal’ of BJP organized a massive morning march (Prabhat Pheri) under the leadership of MLA and former speaker of the assembly , Ram Prasad Paul. The celebratory functions in memory of Dr Shyama Prasad Mookherjee will continue till tomorrow, 10th of July .

As part of the overall programmes a massive morning march (Prabhat Pheri) started from Kathaltali area under the Surjyamoni Nagar assembly constituency under the leadership of MLA and deputy speaker Ram Prasad Paul. Sources said that more than five hundred people, mostly BJP workers and supporters and local leaders took part in the procession that meandered through various road and ended at the community hall. In the meeting at the community hall Ram Prasad Paul delivered a stirring speech,dwelling on the contribution of Dr Shyama Prasad Mookherjee to the cause of Indian freedom and the Hindu community that had been at the receiving end of communally motivated attacks and massacres by elements of the separatist Muslim League. “ Dr Shyama Prasad Mookherjee was not only a great educationist and youngest vice chancellor of Calcutta university at the age of only 33 , he contributed richly to the nation through his political activism and was the living spirit behind the creation of West Bengal as a homeland for the oppressed Bengali Hindus” said Ram Prasad Paul in his speech of tribute. He had also helped save the life of great poet Kazi Nazrul Islam by contributing to his treatment fund.

The speeches were followed by a round of quiz programme in which successful candidates were given Rs 500.00 each as prizes. In his concluding remarks Ram Prasad Paul said that Dr Shyama Prasad’s dream of a united India for which he sacrificed his life in a Kashmir jail under mysterious circumstances has been fulfilled by prime minister Narendra Modi . “ After August 5 2019 Kashmir is now an integral part of India and the divisive Article 370 and Article35 have been abolished ; our respected prime minister is the true torch bearer of Dr Shyama Prasad’s legacy” said Ram Prasad Paul.
