Union minister for women and child development visits Agartala

The union minister for women and child development Annapurna Debi today arrived at Agartala to take detailed information on how implementation of central schemes for children and development is progressing and how the funds allocated for this purpose are being utilized. Official sources here said that on her arrival at MBB airport, Agartala, Annapurna Debi was received by the Tripura minister for social welfare and social development, Tinku Roy.
Having checked into the state guest house she held a brief meeting with Tinku Roy and officials of the department of child welfare and women development and took detailed information besides giving directions on proper utilization of central funds. Later, accompanied by Tinku Roy and departmental officials, the union minister visited the Girls Unit-II, Saksham Anganwadi Centre and the site for construction of the hostel for working women. The minister examined the progress of various schemes for women welfare and child development as also the infrastructural works for the central projects for women and children.
Sources said that Annapurna Debi, the union minister, is scheduled to hold meetings with the social welfare and social education minister Tinku Roy and departmental officials on overall functioning of the department in the context of implementation of central schemes and projects. The union minister is also likely to visit Anganwadi centres, girl’s hostels and other institutions and projects built and maintained by the department of social welfare and social education with central funds.
