Union Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday inaugurated a buyer-seller meet at the Tripura Queen Pineapple Global Festival 2026, where 18 Letters of Intent (LoIs) worth around Rs 11 crore were exchanged, state Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath said.
The LoIs were exchanged during the buyer-seller meet attended by buyers, exporters, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), entrepreneurs and producers as part of the second day's events of the festival, Nath said.
The day's programme began with the live broadcast of the Prime Minister's 'Mann Ki Baat', attended by Chief Minister Manik Saha, Nath, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee and senior officials.
The buyer-seller meet was inaugurated by Chouhan in the presence of Nath, Bhattacharjee and APEDA Deputy General Manager Sunita Rai.
Addressing the gathering, the speakers highlighted the potential of Tripura's Queen Pineapple in domestic and overseas markets and stressed the need to strengthen value chains, market linkages, processing, branding and exports to improve farmers' income.
Nath said the event brought together 40 buyers from different parts of the country, providing a platform for interaction with producers, exporters, FPOs and entrepreneurs.
"The Buyer-Seller Meet resulted in the exchange of 18 Letters of Intent with a cumulative business value of approximately Rs 11 crore," Nath said.
He said the outcome reflected growing industry confidence in the quality and marketability of Tripura's Queen Pineapple and was expected to create new marketing opportunities, improve farmers' income and strengthen the state's agri-export ecosystem.
According to the minister, the festival aims to promote Tripura's horticultural produce while facilitating partnerships among farmers, processors, exporters, entrepreneurs and institutional buyers from across the country.
