CM Orders High-Level Inquiry into Ramnagar Apartment Blast, Five-Member Committee to Submit Report Within Seven Days

The Government of Tripura has constituted a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the tragic apartment explosion at Ramnagar Road No. 4 in Agartala, following the directions of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. The incident, which occurred on June 25 at around 12:30 pm, initially injured two person, while one injured victim Shubhrajit Choudhury of Agartala Ker Chowmuhani area later succumbed to injuries at GB Pant Hospital today morning.

An official order issued by the Urban Development Department on Friday stated that the State Government has decided to conduct a thorough inquiry into the causes and circumstances of the explosion. The committee has been directed to submit its findings and recommendations to the government within seven days.

The inquiry committee will be headed by the Secretary of the Urban Development Department. Other members include the Director of Fire and Emergency Services, the Municipal Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), the Superintendent of Police of West Tripura, and the Chief Engineer of PWD (Buildings). The committee has been entrusted with examining every aspect of the incident, including the possible cause of the blast, compliance with building safety regulations, structural safety issues, and any lapses or negligence that may have contributed to the tragedy.

The explosion, which occurred inside a residential apartment in Ramnagar, triggered panic across the locality and raised serious concerns over safety measures in multi-storeyed residential buildings. The incident has also prompted demands for stricter enforcement of fire safety norms and periodic inspections of residential apartments across the state.

By constituting the high-level committee, the State Government has signalled its intent to ensure a transparent and comprehensive investigation into the incident. The findings of the committee are expected to play a crucial role in fixing responsibility, recommending preventive measures, and strengthening safety protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The inquiry report, to be submitted within a week, is expected to provide clarity on the exact cause of the blast and guide the government's next course of action regarding accountability and public safety.
