Injured flat inmate in Ram Nagar breathes his last in GBP hospital, CM and Mayor visit the damaged flat

The inmate of the blast-damaged flat in Ram Nagar Shubhrajit Chowdhury who had sustained serious injuries in the sudden explosion yesterday in the afternoon today breathed his last in the GBP hospital while under treatment. Sources said that Shubrajit Chowdhury, reportedly an employee in a coaching centre on the first floor of the N.S. Apartment, where the explosion had occurred sustained multiple burn injuries and was taken to GBP hospital in a serious condition . But despite the treatment provided to him he succumbed to his injuries. He is survived his wife who had gone to her paternal home to observe the weeklong ‘Ámbubachi’ rituals . A few other people , residents of nearby flats, also sustained minor injuries and were released from hospital after first aid.
Sources said that the explosion in the second floor of the N.S .Apartment had occurred around 12-30 in the afternoon , shaking the entire area and all twelve flats in it had suffered damages . Even though police, Fire Brigade and NDRF personnel reached the spot well in time people not only in the entire apartment, located in Ram Nagar road no-4 , as well as nearby areas were alarmed by the impact of the blast.
The chief minister Dr Manik Saha and the AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder visited the affected apartment today even though the Mayor had reached the spot yesterday also. They thoroughly visited the apartment and assured the residents that the government will have the apartment technically audited . The chief minister also expressed his condolences to the bereaved family of Shubhrajit Chowdhury .However, people of the area suspected that loose connection of gas extended by TNGCL authority to the apartment flats might have caused the blast yesterday. The chief minister and Mayor did not make any comment on the issued but assured the people that there would be a comprehensive inquiry.
