Old Agartala School Inspector's Resignation Sparks Controversy, Authorities Deny Allegations Against District Magistrate

The resignation of Inspector of Schools, Old Agartala, Smt. Supriya Das, has triggered controversy following media reports alleging that she stepped down after being humiliated by West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar during a school inspection. However, the District Administration and Education Department have strongly denied these allegations.
Reacting to the reports published in a section of the media, District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar clarified that Supriya Das resigned solely due to unavoidable personal reasons and not because of any incident involving him. He stated that the reports linking her resignation to alleged misconduct or humiliation by the District Magistrate are completely false.
According to the clarification, the decision to resign was entirely personal.Meanwhile, sources in the Education Department said that Supriya Das had submitted her resignation on an earlier occasion as well, and that her latest resignation was also prompted by her personal circumstances.
The resignation letter, dated June 25, 2026, addressed to the Director of Elementary Education through the proper channel, clearly states that she was finding it difficult to continue in service due to "unavoidable personal reasons" and requested that her resignation be accepted in accordance with the applicable rules and procedures.
The official forwarding letter issued by the Office of the Inspector of Schools, Old Agartala, confirms that her resignation has been forwarded to the Directorate of Elementary Education for further processing under the prescribed rules.
Earlier, a newspaper report claimed that Supriya Das had resigned after being publicly humiliated by the West Tripura District Magistrate during a school inspection. However, the District Administration and Education Department have rejected this claim and emphasized that her resignation should not be linked to any such incident.As of now, the Education Department has not issued any separate official statement regarding the allegations published in the newspaper.
