Tripura Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker and Surjyamaninagar MLA Ramprasad Pal has issued a strong warning against criminal activities in his constituency following the murder of BJP leader and Kathaltali Club Secretary Samir Das, asserting that there is no place for land mafias, drug syndicates, contractor mafias, or any other criminal elements in Surjyamaninagar.

Addressing the media after meeting the bereaved family of Samir Das at Kathaltali, Pal said, "I, Ramprasad Pal, have never sheltered criminals, nor will I ever do so. There is absolutely no place in my Surjyamaninagar Assembly constituency for land mafias, drug mafias, contractor mafias, or any kind of criminal."

He alleged that a vested group is deliberately trying to malign the image of Surjyamaninagar and appealed to local residents to remain vigilant and stay away from such elements.

Returned from Ladakh Sindhu Mahakumbh to Visit Victim's Family

Pal stated that on June 19, the day Samir Das was murdered at Kathaltali, he was attending the Sindhu Mahakumbh in the Himalayas. Immediately after returning to Tripura, he visited the residence of the deceased to offer condolences and express solidarity with the grieving family.

He paid rich tributes to Samir Das, describing him as a dedicated BJP worker and a committed social activist who had earned the respect of the local community.

The Deputy Speaker categorically rejected allegations linking the accused to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

According to Pal, those arrested in connection with the murder have no association with the BJP, adding that he had been detached from them long ago.

He stressed that attempts to portray the incident as involving BJP members were misleading and intended to create confusion.

Demanding a fair and impartial investigation, Ramprasad Pal said the actual conspirators and killers must be identified and brought to justice, regardless of their identity or influence.

He emphasized that exemplary punishment should be awarded to those responsible so that such incidents do not recur.

Referring to the case, Pal also hinted that there could be a larger conspiracy or hidden agenda behind the murder, saying that the investigation should uncover every individual involved, including anyone operating from behind the scenes.

The MLA appealed to residents of Kathaltali and the entire Surjyamaninagar constituency to maintain communal harmony and peace during the investigation.

He urged people not to take the law into their own hands, emphasizing that justice should be delivered through the legal process.

"Maintain peace, cooperate with the investigation, and have faith in the law. Those responsible for Samir Das's murder will not escape justice," Pal said.

His remarks come amid heightened public attention over the Kathaltali murder case, in which police have already arrested several accused while continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing and the subsequent incidents of violence in the area.
