The visiting central observers of BJP, Dr Sambit Patra and Rajdip Roy last night held an important meeting with eight BJP ministers in the government in the state guest house , having already discussed crucial organizational matter in the party’s core committee in the state. The ministers who attended the meeting included chief minister Dr Manik Saha, Ratan Lal Nath, Pranjit Singha Roy, Sudhangshu Das, Santana Chakma, Tinku Roy, Bikash Debbarma and Sushanta Chowdhury. Only Kisore Barman , the minister for higher education could not attend the meeting. Before that former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb had to stay away from the core committee meeting because of his preoccupation with post-wedding functions. Besides Sambit Patra and Rajidip Roy the meeting was also attended by the organizational secretary Rabindra Raju as well as the state BJP president Abhishek Debroy.
Sources said that in the long meeting the central leaders discussed in detail the functioning of the state government including implementation of the centrally sponsored and state government schemes for the benefit of common people. What figures prominently in the discussion was the organizational weaknesses of the party in the context of the ADC elections held in the month of April and upcoming elections to the statewide civic bodies and the 587 Village Committees.
While the central leaders laid stress on strengthening the organizational base of the party, the matter of improved administrative functioning also came up for discussion so that people can be given all due benefits granted by the centre and states . The leaders set a target for the ministers and organizational functionaries that the influence and hold of the opposition CPI (M) that now has only ten seats in the assembly must be further reduced in the assembly elections of 2028.The chief minister Dr Manik Saha and state president Abhishek Debroy have been specially tasked with the responsibility for strengthening administration as well as party organization. Speaking on the discussion the state president Abhishek Debroy said that the entire session was fruitful and a road map for organization and administration had been set .
