The District Education Officer (In-Charge), Gomati District, has issued an official clarification regarding the news report published on Tripurainfo.com concerning the visit of Tripura Governor N Indrasena Reddy to PM SHRI Tepania Colony Higher Secondary School in Gomati district on June 22.

In a letter addressed to the Editor of Tripurainfo.com the District Education Officer acknowledged and appreciated the publication of the report on the Governor’s visit but stated that certain aspects of the event were not fully reflected, leading to what the department described as an incomplete picture of the situation.

According to the clarification, the attendance of students on the day of the Governor’s visit was approximately 71 percent, based on the official attendance register maintained by the school. The education authorities emphasized that the impression that nearly half of the students were absent does not accurately represent the actual attendance position on that day.

The clarification further stated that during his visit, Governor N Indrasena Reddy appreciated several positive aspects of the institution, including the overall academic atmosphere, cleanliness of the campus, maintenance of library facilities, student discipline and the conduct of various school activities. The Governor was also reportedly pleased with the cultural dance performance and yoga demonstrations presented by the students.

Addressing reports that some students were absent during the Governor’s interaction, the District Education Officer explained that a number of students had temporarily moved to a community hall located within the school premises. These students were preparing for and participating in cultural programmes organized in connection with the Governor’s visit. As a result, although they were physically away from their classrooms at certain times, they were present on campus and actively involved in official programmes related to the visit.

The education authorities maintained that this context may not have been adequately reflected in the earlier report and requested that the clarification be published to ensure a balanced and accurate understanding of the institution’s functioning.
