A mango orchard located at Nagichara, on the outskirts of Agartala, has rapidly emerged as one of the most popular attractions in the area, drawing large numbers of visitors every day. The orchard, developed by Shubhanir Agro Farm, is attracting not only buyers eager to purchase fresh mangoes but also fruit enthusiasts and agriculture lovers keen to witness a remarkable collection of rare and premium mango varieties grown in a single location.
Despite the growing public interest, the farm authorities have reportedly refrained from aggressively promoting the orchard. Their concern is that excessive footfall could damage the plantation, particularly the branches of fruit-bearing trees, and create a situation similar to other popular flower gardens that suffered from overcrowding and vandalism. Nevertheless, residents from Agartala and surrounding areas continue to visit the farm in significant numbers.
Situated within the Suryamaninagar Assembly Constituency, the orchard received a special visit on Saturday from local MLA and Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Ramprasad Paul. During his visit, he toured the farm and expressed admiration after seeing the wide range of high-quality mango varieties being cultivated there.
Sharing his experience on social media, Ramprasad Paul highlighted that the orchard is home to around fifteen varieties of mangoes, including internationally acclaimed and premium cultivars such as Miyazaki, Kathimon, Chiangmai, King of Chakapat, Shreemuang Dokmai, Alphonso, 3 Taste, Q JAI, and Nam Dokmai including famous Harivanga mangoes of Bangladesh. According to him, the cultivation of such a large number of mango varieties at a single location is a rare achievement in Tripura.
The Deputy Speaker noted that the initiative represents more than just successful fruit cultivation. He said the farm is contributing to agricultural diversification, promoting modern farming techniques, and creating new opportunities for strengthening the local economy. He praised the dedication, hard work, and innovative approach of the farming family behind the project, stating that their efforts have transformed the orchard into a model of progressive horticulture.
Ramprasad Paul further expressed confidence that the continued success of Shubhanir Agro Farm would inspire more farmers to adopt advanced fruit cultivation practices. He hoped that similar initiatives would expand across the region in the future, opening new avenues for agriculture and horticulture while enhancing rural livelihoods and economic growth.
With its impressive collection of premium mango varieties and growing popularity among visitors, Shubhanir Agro Farm is increasingly being recognized as a unique agro-tourism destination and a symbol of modern fruit cultivation in Tripura.
