Tripura Gears Up for Grand Celebration of 12th International Yoga Day, Chief Minister to Lead Statewide Observances

Tripura is all set to join the global celebration of the 12th International Yoga Day on June 21, with elaborate programmes planned across the state to promote the importance of yoga in fostering physical health, mental well-being, and a balanced lifestyle. The state administration, sports authorities, yoga organizations, and various social institutions have completed extensive preparations to ensure the successful observance of the international event.
As part of the final preparations, Tripura Sports Minister Tinku Roy on Saturday visited the International Exhibition Ground at Hapania to review the arrangements for the main state-level programme. The minister inspected the venue, assessed logistical and security arrangements, and interacted with officials involved in organizing the event. He emphasized the importance of ensuring smooth participation by yoga enthusiasts, students, government officials, and members of the public expected to attend the programme in large numbers.
The main state-level celebration will be held at the International Exhibition Hall, Hapania, Agartala, where Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha will participate in the observance from 7:00 AM on Sunday. The event is expected to witness the participation of hundreds of yoga practitioners, students, sportspersons, government employees, and representatives of various organizations. A mass yoga demonstration will be conducted in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol promoted across the country.
In another major programme, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu will attend the Sepahijala district-level celebration at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Higher Secondary School, Charilam, beginning at 6:50 AM. The Governor’s participation highlights the significance being attached to the event and the state’s commitment to promoting yoga as a tool for healthy living and social well-being.
Ahead of the International Yoga Day celebrations, awareness activities were also organized across the state. In West Tripura district, a large rally was taken out under the joint initiative of the West District Yoga Association, National AYUSH Mission, and the Indian Red Cross Society. The rally aimed to spread awareness about the benefits of yoga and encourage greater public participation in the International Yoga Day programmes.
The awareness rally witnessed the presence of several prominent personalities, including West Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil, State Sports Council Secretary Sukanta Ghosh, and Tripura Yoga Association Secretary Dibyendu Datta, Yoga Specialst Uttam Debnath among others. Participants carried banners and placards highlighting the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life and promoting a healthier society through regular practice.
