Dead body of BSF jawan recovered from road in Mohanpur

The recovery of the dead body of a BSF jawan from open road in Mohanpur area yesterday has sparked grave concern and anxiety. Police sources said that the BSF jawan identified as Nimai Mandal, originally a resident of a village under Nabagram police station in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district , had been engaged in 42nd battalion of BSF.
Sources said that local residents came across a body lying unconscious on the national highway in Fatikcherra Tulabagan area under Mohanpur in the morning and reported the matter to the Lefunga police station. The police personnel from Lefunga removed the body to Mohanpur community health centre but the doctor on duty there pronounced him ‘dead on arrival’.
Later the diseased man was identified as Nimai Mandal, a jawan of BSF (42nd battalion) and his body carried multiple injuries. Sources said that police suspect the deceased jawan might have been hit by a speeding vehicle on the highway but the actual reason for the death can be ascertained only after detailed post mortem. The SDPO (Mohanpur) Asish Dasgupta visited the spot of recovery and collected evidence as part of investigation. Nimai Mandal’s death has cast a shadow of grief in public and BSF circles in Fatikcherra area under Mohanpur . After post mortem the body of BSF jawan Nimai Mandal will be sent back home to Murshidabad in West Bengal.
