In a major initiative to promote Tripura’s globally acclaimed pineapple industry and expand market access for farmers and food processors, the Tripura Government is set to organize the Tripura Global Pineapple Festival 2026 from June 27 to June 29 at the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. The three-day event will coincide with International Pineapple Day, highlighting Tripura’s growing reputation as one of India’s leading producers of premium-quality pineapples.

The festival is expected to serve as a significant platform for showcasing Tripura’s agricultural excellence, food-processing potential, cultural heritage and investment opportunities. With participation from farmers, entrepreneurs, exporters, food-processing units, buyers, policymakers and consumers from across the country and abroad, the event aims to strengthen Tripura’s position as the pineapple capital of Northeast India.

A key attraction of the festival will be the display of Tripura’s renowned GI-tagged Queen Pineapple, celebrated for its exceptional sweetness, aroma, low fibre content and superior quality. Alongside fresh Queen and Kew varieties, visitors will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of value-added pineapple products developed by local entrepreneurs and food-processing units.

The festival’s food court is expected to become a major crowd-puller, offering an immersive culinary experience featuring authentic North Eastern cuisine and innovative pineapple-based gastronomy. Visitors will be able to taste freshly harvested pineapples, pineapple chocolates, jams, jellies, canned products and a variety of processed food items. Traditional dishes prepared by indigenous tribal communities using local spices and culinary techniques will provide a unique glimpse into Tripura’s rich food culture.

Beyond food and agriculture, the festival will also showcase the state’s cultural diversity through traditional dance and music performances, handicrafts exhibitions and interactions with artisans. Special business sessions, trade interactions and buyer-seller meets are expected to facilitate direct linkages between Tripura’s farmers, producer organizations, food-processing enterprises and national and international buyers.

The event forms part of the state government’s broader strategy to enhance agricultural exports, encourage food-processing industries and improve farmers’ incomes through value addition. In recent years, Tripura has witnessed growing recognition for its pineapple cultivation, with the GI-tagged Queen Pineapple emerging as one of the state’s flagship agricultural products.

Notably, Tripura government has been actively promoting branding, processing, packaging and export-oriented initiatives to unlock the crop’s full economic potential.

Officials believe that the Global Pineapple Festival will not only create new business opportunities for growers and entrepreneurs but will also strengthen Tripura’s image as an emerging hub for agro-based industries and sustainable rural development. By bringing together stakeholders from across the agricultural value chain, the festival is expected to generate fresh momentum for investment, market expansion and international recognition of Tripura’s celebrated pineapple sector.

As preparations gather pace, the upcoming festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of Tripura’s agricultural success story, offering visitors a unique blend of taste, culture, business and innovation while placing the state’s prized “Queen Pineapple” firmly on the global stage. The event is expected to attract thousands of visitors, food enthusiasts, traders and investors, further reinforcing Tripura’s growing prominence in India’s agricultural and food-processing landscape.
