The Faculty of Law at the ICFAI University Tripura is all set to organize the 4th NJY National Moot Court Competition 2026, a flagship national-level legal event aimed at fostering advocacy, research, and courtroom skills among aspiring legal professionals. The three-day competition will be held from 17 June to 19 June 2026 at the university campus in Kamalghat, West Tripura.
The competition, organized in memory of the late Dr. N.J Yasaswy, visionary educationist and founder of the ICFAI Group, seeks to promote intellectual rigor, ethical leadership, and excellence in legal education. The event will bring together talented law students from across India to engage in simulated court proceedings and showcase their advocacy abilities.
This year's edition has attracted 23 teams representing 11 states, reflecting the increasing prominence of the competition within India's legal academic community. The event will provide participants with a platform to sharpen their legal reasoning, research capabilities, oral advocacy skills, and professional courtroom etiquette.
According to the organizers, the competition continues the legacy of the previous three successful editions and aims to create a dynamic learning environment where budding lawyers can tackle contemporary legal issues through practical application of legal principles.
The moot proposition for the 2026 edition, titled “State of Indica vs. Rhea Sharma,” revolves around crucial constitutional and criminal law issues, including:
Freedom of speech and expression and press freedom;
Rights of marginalized communities;

The proposition addresses contemporary concerns involving journalism, public order, digital media, AI-generated content, and constitutional rights, offering participants an opportunity to debate complex legal questions of national relevance.
