A massive protest march organized by the Youth Congress demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET examination scam and other national issues turned violent in Agartala on Monday after Tripura Police used water cannons and baton charges to disperse demonstrators.Hundreds of Youth Congress workers participated in the protest and marched towards the official residence area of the Chief Minister. The protesters accused the Central Government of failing to ensure transparency in national examinations and raised several other issues affecting the youth of the country. The procession was initially stopped near IGM Hospital, where police deployed water cannons to prevent the protesters from advancing further. Despite repeated attempts by security personnel to block the march, Youth Congress activists continued moving towards the Chief Minister's official residence.

As the protesters allegedly tried to breach security barricades and proceed towards the high-security zone near the Chief Minister's residence, police and CRPF intensified their action. Water cannons were again used, followed by a baton charge to disperse the crowd.Several protesters sustained injuries during the police action, with many seen bleeding from various parts of their bodies. The injured were provided medical assistance, while the incident led to chaotic scenes in the area.

Youth Congress leaders strongly condemned the police action, alleging that the administration had used excessive force against a democratic movement. They maintained that peaceful protests are a fundamental right in a democracy and accused the government of suppressing dissenting voices through force. The incident also triggered strong reactions from various sections of the public and political circles. Critics questioned the administration's approach, arguing that similar firmness was not witnessed during previous incidents that disrupted normal life in the state. Some observers remarked that such strong action would have been more appropriate against drug traffickers and criminal elements rather than political protesters.

Police officials, however, maintained that the measures were necessary to prevent any breach of security near the Chief Minister's residence and to maintain law and order in the city. The confrontation between protesters and security forces has added a fresh dimension to the ongoing political tensions in Tripura, with opposition parties likely to raise the issue strongly in the coming days. The situation was eventually brought under control, although the images of injured protesters and the police action have already sparked widespread political debate across the state.
