Bargul Gram Panchayat under Kadamtala RD Block in North Tripura district has achieved 100 per cent coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), bringing all 856 families in the panchayat under the ambit of the two social security schemes.
With this achievement, Bargul has become the second gram panchayat in Tripura to attain complete coverage under both centrally sponsored insurance schemes, according to district administration officials.
The milestone was achieved through coordinated efforts involving the block administration, panchayat representatives, banking institutions and other agencies associated with the implementation of the schemes.
In a social media post, the district administration stated that all eligible households in the gram panchayat had been enrolled under PMSBY and PMJJBY, ensuring broader insurance inclusion and financial security for families.
In a congratulatory letter to the Kadamtala RD Block administration, Sandip Deb, Senior Manager, State Insurance Plan-Tripura at ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd, lauded the achievement and described Bargul as a model gram panchayat for social security coverage.
He noted that Mailak Gram Panchayat under Amarpur RD Block in Gomati district was the first in the state to achieve complete coverage under the two schemes.
Deb said the inclusion of all 856 families reflected effective coordination among administrative authorities and implementing agencies working at the grassroots level.
He also acknowledged the contributions of Kadamtala RD Block BDO Utpal Das and Bargul Gram Panchayat Executive Officer Rupayan Ghosh in achieving the target.
The Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana provides accident insurance coverage, while the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana offers life insurance protection to enrolled beneficiaries through the banking network.
