Political discussions in Tripura have intensified following a series of high-level meetings involving TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma and senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in New Delhi.
According to political circles, the presence of several TIPRA Motha leaders in the national capital has triggered fresh speculation regarding possible political developments in Tripura. Discussions have particularly centered on the future political equation between the ruling BJP and its alliance partner TIPRA Motha.
Senior BJP national leader Sambit Patra confirmed on his Facebook page that he held a meeting with TIPRA Motha President Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma and Tripura Minister of State Brishaketu Debbarma at his residence in New Delhi.
In his post, Patra stated:
“Had a cordial meeting with the President of TIPRA Motha (NDA partner in the State of Tripura) Shri Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma Ji, and Minister of State in the Government of Tripura, Shri Brishaketu Debbarma Ji, at my residence today. Had a very meaningful discussion with them.”
The meeting has attracted significant attention as it comes amid ongoing political discussions within the ruling alliance in Tripura.
Earlier, TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma also met several senior BJP leaders in New Delhi, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The details of those discussions have not been officially disclosed.
Meanwhile, TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma is currently reported to be in Guwahati, further adding to political speculation regarding possible consultations and organizational discussions involving the party.
Political observers note that the recent meetings have led to widespread speculation about potential changes in Tripura's political landscape. However, neither TIPRA Motha nor the BJP has officially announced any move concerning the leadership of the state government headed by Chief Minister Manik Saha.
As of now, no official statement has been issued by either party regarding any proposal for a change in leadership. Nevertheless, the flurry of meetings in New Delhi has generated considerable interest among political observers and party workers, who are closely watching for any indication of future developments within the ruling alliance in Tripura.
With key leaders continuing their engagements in New Delhi and elsewhere, political circles in Tripura are expected to remain focused on the outcome of these discussions and their possible impact on the state's political equation in the coming months.
