Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha on Sunday said that Tripura has emerged as one of India's leading states in development and governance, earning nationwide recognition and receiving more than 350 awards across various sectors.

Addressing the Jana Kalyan Shivir at RS Bhawan in Agartala, the Chief Minister said that despite geographical isolation, difficult terrain, limited land availability, and other structural challenges faced by the North Eastern region, Tripura has achieved remarkable progress through policy reforms, digital governance, infrastructure development, and investment promotion. The event was also attended by the central minister Sarvananda Sanuawal, BJPs state president Abhishek Debroy, Agartala Municipal Corporation Chairman Dipak Majumdar, Secretary ICA PK Chakraborty and West Tripura District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar and many more dignitaries.

Dr. Saha highlighted the state's long-term development vision focuses on economic diversification, industrial growth, digital transformation, human resource development, and sustainable development.

He said the government has undertaken major reforms in land administration, urban planning, healthcare, education, tourism, and public service delivery to improve transparency, efficiency, and ease of doing business. As a result, Tripura secured the top position in both Phase I and Phase II of the national Deregulation and Compliance Reduction initiative.

The Chief Minister revealed that the state attracted investment proposals worth more than Rs.30,000 crore during the previous year, while projects valued at over Rs.8,000 crore have already entered the implementation stage. These investments cover sectors such as information technology, infrastructure, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, tourism, and renewable energy.

To strengthen governance and economic planning, the state has established institutions such as the Tripura Institution for Transformation (TIFT), Tripura Urban Planning and Development Authority (TUDA), Investment Promotion Agency of Tripura (IPAT), and the Good Governance Department.

Dr. Saha also emphasized capacity building through partnerships with premier institutions, including IIM Calcutta, IIT Gandhinagar, National Law University Agartala, and the National Institute of Smart Government. He noted that Tripura secured first rank among Group-A States in the nationwide Sadhana Saptah programme conducted through the iGoT platform.

Highlighting the Digital Tripura Mission, the Chief Minister said governance processes from the State Cabinet to Gram Panchayats have been digitized, creating a paperless administration that has improved efficiency, transparency, and service delivery.

He further stated that the state is actively promoting innovation and entrepreneurship through the State Innovation Mission and T-NEST. More than 200 startups have already been recognized under the Startup Policy 2024, receiving incubation, mentoring, and funding support.

Dr. Saha pointed out that Agartala hosts India's third International Internet Gateway after Mumbai and Chennai, providing a major boost to digital connectivity in the North East. The state is also attracting private investments in data centres under its Data Centre Policy 2021.

Among the government's future-focused initiatives is the proposed Agartala AI City, which aims to create a hub for artificial intelligence, innovation, research, entrepreneurship, and digital infrastructure. The project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities for the youth.

The Chief Minister said Industrial Training Institutes are being modernized in collaboration with Tata Technologies, with new Industry 4.0 courses being introduced in robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and smart manufacturing. Plans are also underway to establish a World Skills Centre and a School of Languages in collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission.

Dr. Saha said the state's development agenda also covers tourism, healthcare, medical education, women's entrepreneurship, connectivity, bamboo and rubber industries, textiles, pharmaceuticals, sports infrastructure, and social welfare.

Concluding his address, the Chief Minister said Tripura's achievements demonstrate how a geographically constrained state can achieve extraordinary progress through good governance, innovation, and public participation.

"Today, Tripura is known across the country for its development work and has received more than 350 awards in various sectors. We are committed to making Tripura one of the most developed and prosperous states in India by 2047," he said.
