Tripura Police Cracks Down on Social Media Reels in Uniform, West Tripura SP Issues Strict Memorandum Warning Police Personnel

In a significant move aimed at preserving the dignity, discipline, and public image of the police force, the Office of the Superintendent of Police (SP), West Tripura, has issued a strict memorandum directing all police personnel to refrain from creating or uploading reels, videos, photographs, and other social media content while wearing police uniforms if such content is deemed inappropriate or detrimental to the image of the force.

The memorandum, issued by the Superintendent of Police, West Tripura, notes that the higher authorities have observed an increasing trend among some police personnel of producing and sharing reels, short videos, and other social media content while in uniform. According to the memorandum, such activities, especially when they are frivolous, objectionable, or inconsistent with the dignity of the police profession, can adversely affect the image, discipline, and public perception of Tripura Police.

The memorandum emphasizes that the police uniform represents authority, discipline, integrity, and public trust. Every member of the force is expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and conduct while in uniform.

The memorandum outlines several important instructions applicable to all police personnel, including members of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and other units:

Police personnel are prohibited from creating, participating in, or uploading reels, videos, photographs, or any social media content while wearing police uniforms if such content undermines the dignity, decorum, discipline, or image of Tripura Police.

Police uniforms must not be used for personal publicity, entertainment activities, commercial promotions, or any other purpose that could bring disrepute to the department.

Supervisory officers have been directed to closely monitor such activities and sensitize subordinate personnel about the proper use and dignity associated with police uniforms.

Any objectionable, derogatory, or inappropriate social media content involving police personnel in uniform must be immediately reported through proper channels for necessary action.

Violations of these instructions will be treated seriously and may result in strict departmental action under the applicable disciplinary rules.
