Even though the central government , specially the union home ministry , have waked up to the reality of illegal immigration of Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingiyas through the porous border in northeast and west Bengal , such infiltration has been continuing in Tripura with local collaboration . A number of local human traffickers have been working as ‘Goddars’ in this regard by facilitating entry of Banglaldeshi infiltrator termites and terroristic Rohingiyas, taking advantage of the unfenced parts of the border and erosion of fencing in other parts.

The latest such case has come to notice from a public protest in Laxminagar village under Churaibari police station in north Tripura. A large number of villagers today came out in strong protest and met the officer in charge of the Churaibari police station demanding immediate arrest of the trafficker Dipen Das who is now absconding . The irate villagers have threatened to take law in their own hands to punish the trafficker Dipen Das unless he is arrested soon. Sources from Churaibari said that sensing trouble trafficker Dipen Das has fled to Ramkrishna Nagar township under the neighbouring Sribhoomi (erstwhile Karimganj) district in Barak valley where he owns large properties.

Sources said that Dipen Das originally belonged to a poor family but while working as a deed writer in Dharma Nagar court he became part of a network engaged in making fake Áadhar cards and other documents of residency to facilitate entry of illegal Bangladeshis and settlement here in different fake names in lieu of hefty payments. Recently he brought a Bangldeshi Muslim infiltrator named Md Harun Rashid (45) and gave him fake Indian documents in a fake name in lieu of big amount in cash after keeping him in shelter for sometime. By indulging in such nefarious and anti-national activities Dipen Das has become rich and acquired lot of properties in his native Laxmi Nagar village as well as in areas under neighbouring Sribhumi district ,specially in Ram Krishna Nagar area. While coming out in protest against his activities and demanding action the villagers of Laxmi Nagar have asked police authority of Churaibari to arrest him soon and put him behind bars , otherwise they will punish him themselves.
