Veteran Tripura Automobile Pioneer Mahaprabhu Saha Passes Away at 80

Mahaprabhu Saha, a distinguished businessman of Agartala and one of Tripura’s most respected automobile dealers, passed away in Hyderabad following a cardiac arrest. He was 80.
Saha, the proprietor of Sri Ramakrishna Engineering Works and a prominent businessman based on Chittaranjan Road in Agartala, breathed his last at around 3:30 am in Hyderabad despite intensive medical efforts by doctors.
According to a spokesperson from his residential complex, Shyamalima Apartment, Saha had went at his daughter’s residence in Hyderabad along with his wife for medical treatment. He suffered a severe heart attack and was rushed to a hospital. However, despite the best efforts of the medical team, he could not be revived.
His mortal remains were brought to Agartala, where the last rites were performed day before yesterday at the Batatala Mahashmashan in the state capital. Family members, relatives, friends, business associates, and numerous admirers gathered to pay their final respects to the departed entrepreneur.
Mahaprabhu Saha is survived by his wife, one son, three daughters, and a large number of relatives and well-wishers. For the past several years, he had been residing in a flat at Shyamalima Apartment in Agartala.
Widely regarded as one of Tripura’s pioneering automobile entrepreneurs, Saha played a significant role in the development of the state’s automobile sector. He earned special recognition as the first authorized dealer of Mahindra vehicles in Tripura, helping introduce and expand the brand’s presence in the state. Through his business ventures, he contributed substantially to the growth of the automobile market and transportation infrastructure in Tripura.
Business leaders and members of the trading community remembered him as a visionary entrepreneur, a respected businessman, and a humble individual who maintained close relations with people across all sections of society.
His demise marks the end of an era in Tripura’s automobile industry.
