Tripura CM highlights major achievements of state in NITI Aayong Governing Council meeting chaired by PM

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday highlighted the state's progress in education, healthcare, skill development, women's empowerment, investment promotion and administrative reforms at the 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Participating in the meeting themed "Human Capital for Viksit Bharat", Saha said Tripura has aligned its long-term development roadmap, "Lakshya 2047", with the national goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
According to the chief minister, the state's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has doubled over the past six years, while Tripura has emerged as the country's third fully literate state and secured over 350 national and regional awards during the last eight years.
Highlighting education initiatives, Saha said programmes such as Mission Mukul, NIPUN Corners, the Vidya-Setu Module and the Tripura School Quality and Accreditation Framework (TSQAAF) have been introduced to strengthen foundational learning and institutional performance. He said smart classrooms, tinkering labs, 84 PM SHRI schools and 125 Vidyajyoti model schools are being developed, while the educational television channel "Vande Tripura" is supporting students and teachers.
He also referred to SAHARSH, a socio-emotional learning programme, and expansion of higher education through new public and private universities.
On healthcare, Saha informed the council that over three lakh Aadhaar-verified beneficiaries have been covered under the Poshan Tracker. He said the School Health Mission has been launched in collaboration with NITI Aayog, while the Mukhyamantri Sustho Shaishob Sustho Kaishore Abhiyaan has achieved nearly 98 per cent coverage across eight campaigns.
The chief minister said Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have received National Quality Assurance Standards certification and medical education capacity has expanded, with MBBS seats increasing from 225 to 550 and postgraduate seats from 85 to 196.
Saha said around 4.96 lakh women are associated with 55,676 self-help groups, while the female labour force participation rate increased from 37.5 per cent in 2022 to 45.9 per cent in 2025. He also highlighted the Tripura Women Entrepreneurship Policy 2025 and measures to support women-led enterprises.
On skill development, he said the state is partnering with Tata Technologies to modernise Industrial Training Institutes and plans to establish a World Skill Centre and a School of Languages with the Ramakrishna Mission.
Saha said Tripura secured the top position among states and Union Territories in both phases of the Deregulation and Compliance Reduction initiative. He informed the council that the state attracted investment proposals worth over Rs 30,000 crore in the past year, with projects worth more than Rs 8,000 crore already grounded, including a proposed data centre project by Bharti Airtel in Agartala.
He also highlighted MSME promotion, tourism projects including the Mata Tripura Sundari Tourism Circuit and Buddhist Circuit, digitalisation of governance processes, the State Innovation Mission and T-NEST startup initiative.
A detailed written submission on the state's initiatives was also submitted to NITI Aayog, according to the chief minister. There was no immediate response from NITI Aayog on the points raised by Tripura during the meeting.
