The Joint Action Committee of the surrendered ATTF and NLFT militants have given a call for a seventy two hour bandh including rail and road blockade from tomorrow to press for full implementation of the tripartite peace accord signed with Centre and state government . Earlier the ‘bandh’call had been withdrawn by the surrendered militant leadership following a discussion with the minister for tribal welfare Bikash Debbarma who had invited them for talks but since no step has been taken to meet the ‘legitimate’ demands of the militants they have decided to go for a seventy two hours rail and road blockade protest.

Sources said that even though the ‘bandh’ is scheduled to begin from tomorrow morning , hundreds of militants belonging to both the surrendered groups have started thronging the spots of the blockade at Barmura or ‘Hatai Katar’, Champak Nagar, Subal Singh, Brigudasbari close to the rail line as well as near the important link highways. Speaking on behalf of the surrendered militants , Prasenjit Debbarma said that the movement of ambulances carrying patients , police vehicles and Fire Brigade vehicles will remain from the purview of the ‘bandh’ and will be allowed to ply freely. Official sources however said that security is being beefed up in view the ‘bandh’ and blockade beginning tomorrow to prevent any untoward incident.
