Theft in temple at Mohanpur constituency, tension in the area

A daring theft in a temple in Kalikamura under Amgachhia panchayat under Mohanpur assembly constituency last night has triggered a furore and tension in the area . A team of police officials have visited the temple and spoken to local people besides registering a case but no one has been arrested so far, nor has there been any recovery of stolen cash and materials . ‘

Sources from Mohanpur said that early this morning the priest of the temple of Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva in Kalikamura village had gone to the temple but got horror struck at the sight of the half open doors. Having gone inside they found the entire temple ransacked with various utensils and other items falling here and there. The priest, accompanied by local bigwigs soon searched the donation box and found that a considerable amount cash lying inside gone . Besides, a number of gold and silver ornaments that adorned the images of the deities had also been stolen away by the thieves.

The priest and the founder of the temple Subrata Sarkar called in local people and informed them of what had happened. They soon reported the matter to the Sidhai police station and a police team reached the spot and noted down all details . To anxious queries and demands of the people the police team assured them that they would register a case and launch an investigation into the case to recover the stolen materials as well as to nab the culprits. Police officials however said that since there was no CCTV coverage of temple within and without the investigation may take some time to conclude.
