At a time when the prime minister Narendra Modi has been consistently putting accent on science and technology education for students from an early stage, the computer teachers in Tripura, appointed under a central scheme , continue to wait for dismissal of services. Their monthly pay has become extremely irregular over a long period and now computer education for students has come to a virtual standstill in as many as 365 schools. Despite repeated appeals the computer teachers have not been able to elicit even their basic minimum demand of regular monthly pay and security in service. Sources at the government level keep absolutely mum over the demands and plight of the school computer teachers.
With insecurity in service and possible dismissal staring them in the face, the All Tripura School Computer Shikshak Sangha (ATSCSS) affiliated with the pro-BJP Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangha (BMS) deciding to stage a protest programme in the form of a human chain in the Circuit House area on June 8, that is tomorrow. According to a statement issued by Shubhankar Roy, the general secretary of the ATSCSS the human chain programme will continue from 9-00 AM to 1-00 PM. This will be followed by a rally of the workers from Circuit House to Rabindra Shata Varshiki Bhawan where a street corner meeting and a press conference will be held. The leaders of the ‘Sangh’will address the meeting and the press conference.
