National Cancer Survivors Day was observed with great enthusiasm, emotion, and a powerful message of hope at ILS Hospitals Agartala in association with the International Oncology Cancer Institute (IOCI). The event brought together nearly 25 cancer survivors who shared their inspiring journeys of courage, resilience, determination, and triumph over cancer.

The programme served as a unique platform for survivors and their families to recount their experiences during diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Their stories reflected the challenges they faced and highlighted how timely medical intervention, advanced treatment facilities, and unwavering family support helped them overcome one of the most difficult battles of their lives.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Devleena Gangopadhyay, the only Medical Oncologist at ILS-IOCI and in Tripura, stressed the importance of early cancer detection, regular screening, and continuous follow-up care in improving treatment outcomes. She lauded the survivors for their remarkable determination and encouraged patients currently undergoing treatment to remain positive and hopeful.

“Cancer is no longer a disease that should be feared as untreatable. Early diagnosis, proper treatment, and a positive mindset can significantly improve outcomes. The survivors present here today are living examples of courage and perseverance,” she said.

The programme was also addressed by Dr. Gautam Hazarika, Dr. Gautam Majumder, Dr. Debanjan Chakraborty, Dr. Raphael, and Dr. Paramita Debnath. The speakers highlighted the significant advances in cancer care available in Tripura and reiterated their commitment to providing comprehensive and quality oncology services to the people of the state.

Hospital officials noted that the collaboration between ILS Hospitals and IOCI has considerably strengthened cancer treatment facilities in Tripura. As a result, many patients can now receive advanced oncology care within the state, reducing the need to travel outside Tripura for treatment and thereby lessening the emotional, physical, and financial burden on families.

Many cancer survivors and their family members expressed heartfelt gratitude to ILS Hospitals and IOCI for establishing advanced cancer treatment facilities in Tripura. They shared how access to quality healthcare closer to home played a crucial role in their recovery journey and improved their quality of life during treatment.

On the occasion, ILS Hospitals paid tribute to all cancer survivors, describing them as true warriors whose strength, resilience, and determination continue to inspire society. Survivors were felicitated for their courage and perseverance, making the event both emotional and uplifting.

The programme concluded with a collective message of hope, awareness, and determination in the fight against cancer. Participants emphasized the importance of creating greater awareness about early detection and ensuring access to quality cancer care for all.

“Every survivor’s journey is a testament to the power of hope, medical excellence, and human resilience. ILS Hospitals salutes all cancer warriors who have fought and continue to inspire others through their courage,” hospital authorities stated.
