Despite the change of government in February this year with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) taking over power, there has been no change in the terrible law and order situation in the country or positive change in the justice delivery system. To worsen matters , deliberate and targeted persecution of Hindu minorities has been gaining in momentum by the day.
Sources from Bangladesh said that yesterday in the afternoon the dead bodies of a Hindu mother and her two minor daughter were discovered from within the office room of Barguna Zilla Parishad office . It was early in the afternoon yesterday that employees of the Zilla Parishad office in Barguna district headquarter opened a room in the second floor of the building and saw three dead bodies lying side by side, as if arranged in a planned manner. The woman was identified as Iti Rani Biswas (34) and her two daughters Aradhya Biswas (12) and Anuradha Biswas (8). The slain Iti Rani Biswas was a worker in the Zilla Parishad office and , according to Dulal Chandra Biswas (36), husband of the slain woman, she had duly come to the Zilla Parishad office to do her cleaning work with her two daughters also accompanying their mother. A team of police rushed to the spot from Barguna district headquarter and shifted the dead bodies to the district hospital for treatment but did not make any comment on the triple murder except saying that it was truly a case of multiple murder.
Apart from this, Kausar Mia (21) , a criminal who had stabbed to death a minor Hindu girl student of class X Mukti Rani Barman (16),a student of class X then , has recently been seen roaming freely in Netrakona district headquarter. It was in the year 2023 that Kausar Mia had stabbed Mukti to death in broad daylight on her way back home from school after being rejected a number of times for a love affair. Mukti’s elder brother was also with her but failed to save his sister. After being arrested by police Kausan Mia was sentenced to death within a few months but the then Awami League government did not act upon the court order . The killer Kausar Mia was in jail though he got repeated paroles but now he has been sighted roaming freely in the main road at the Netrakona district headquarter. This has been noticed by a number of Hindu organisations but no protest against this has been launched even though the Hindu monk Chinmay Krishna continues to rot in jail over the past 18 months despite having committed no offence.
