In a significant initiative aimed at improving electricity services in the tribal areas of Tripura, a high-level meeting was held at the Conference Hall of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Headquarters in Khumulwng to discuss persistent power supply issues and future infrastructure development plans.

The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Member, TTAADC Runiel Debbarma and Shri Biswajit Basu, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL), along with senior officials of the corporation, including the General Manager, Additional General Manager, Deputy General Manager, Senior Manager, and Manager. Representatives of TTAADC also participated in the discussions.

A major focus of the meeting was the recurring problem of power outages and disruptions experienced across various TTAADC areas during the monsoon and rainy seasons. Participants highlighted the challenges faced by residents due to frequent interruptions in electricity supply, which affect daily life, educational activities, healthcare services, communication systems, and economic activities in remote tribal regions.

During the deliberations, officials reviewed the underlying causes of power disruptions, including adverse weather conditions, damage to transmission and distribution infrastructure, falling trees, and difficulties in accessing remote locations for maintenance and restoration work. The meeting also examined the current status of electricity infrastructure in ADC areas and identified key areas requiring immediate attention.

TSECL officials presented future plans aimed at strengthening the power distribution network and enhancing the reliability of electricity services in tribal regions. Discussions included measures for upgrading transmission and distribution systems, improving maintenance mechanisms, ensuring faster response during emergencies, and adopting preventive strategies to minimize power interruptions during adverse weather conditions.

The meeting further explored ways to improve coordination between TTAADC and TSECL to ensure quicker identification and resolution of electricity-related problems. Emphasis was placed on developing a more efficient mechanism for addressing consumer grievances and ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the maximum extent possible.

Both TTAADC and TSECL officials expressed their commitment to working together to improve electricity infrastructure and service delivery in ADC areas. They agreed that ensuring reliable power supply is essential for the overall socio-economic development of tribal communities and for supporting ongoing development initiatives across the region.

The discussions concluded with a resolve to take necessary measures for addressing existing challenges and implementing long-term solutions to enhance the quality, reliability, and sustainability of power services in the TTAADC areas.
